The Center for Restorative Justice is excited to offer up to 10 scholarships for the Spring 2022 cohort of the Certificate in Restorative Justice Facilitation and Leadership offered through the Center for Restorative Justice at the University of San Diego. The scholarships are for professionals that have the interest and influence to bring restorative justice to their professions. This three-course certificate program provides a comprehensive introduction to restorative justice facilitation and leadership through online coursework, a skill-building intensive, and practicum experience.

Who should apply?
Professionals working in K-12 schools, higher education, the criminal justice system, and community organizations, who are positioned to implement restorative justice programming in their work. The certificate is for people wishing to deepen their understanding of restorative justice, become skillful restorative facilitators, and lead efforts to implement restorative justice programs and policies.

What are the scholarship selection criteria?
The selection committee is interested in the combination of several factors including:

  1. Diversity of work experience. We are looking for professionals working in the education system, the criminal justice system, and the community so professionals in the certificate can collaborate and learn across multiple systems.
  2. Positional responsibility capable of implementing restorative justice in your work in a meaningful way.
  3. Institutional/organizational support to complete the certificate program and utilize knowledge and skills gained.
  4. The selection committee is committed to identifying a group of recipients that reflect the diversity of those we serve in restorative justice contexts (e.g., race, gender identity and gender expression, geography, and organizational type). We invite applicants to share information about your identity and life experiences within the application and highlight connections with your interest in restorative justice.
  5. Submit application by Sunday, October 31st, 2021.
