Reflections from Chaplains on their Retreat

chaplain retreat 2017

The Catholic State Chaplains spent the past week in Santa Cruz, CA for their Bi-Annual Retreat and Training in Villa Maria del Mar Retreat Center. This was a great time for all the chaplains who work for the state in various departments and agencies across the state. Many of the chaplains present come from the State Prison systems. We were very grateful and blessed to have Father Mike Kennedy from the Jesuit Restorative Justice Initiative and his staff join us and facilitate our retreat.

Below are some of the Chaplains' reflections:

"Diving down beneathe the surface of our spirituality and seeing Christ in those we work with and minister too. I feel I am learning from the best of the best. " -Chaplain

"It has been a great time with God and my fellow chaplains.
A different kind of retreat, not with much spiritual talks but much time for reflection and sharing.
The open sharing’s from one another was quite informative and encouraging.
It is good to know that one is not alone in the experience we encounter every day in this prison ministry.
Thanks be to God."
-Chaplain

"It brings together to pray, reflect, and join our hearts as we continue our important duties of chaplains to those brothers and sisters behind bars." -Chaplain

"The grace I received was focus and peace. Listening to my fellow chaplains and praying with them gave me strength in my journey to improve myself in this ministry." -Chaplain

"Bobby (Deacon Bill), Arturo, Kevin, & Fr. Mike, – Thank you so much for making differences in the life of many. God Bless." -Chaplain

"Beautiful Homecoming, coming home to chaplains to share our love our sowers, and our joys. Great time of healing and empowerment to go back to serve and love those in need." -Chaplain
